The Walton Centre was founded in 1992 and granted Foundation Trust status in 2009. It is a non-profit organisation. These days, it is a leading National Health Service Foundation Trust in the treatment and care of patients with neurological and neurosurgery conditions. It is the only specialist hospital trust in the United Kingdom that is dedicated to providing comprehensive neurology, neurosurgery, spinal, and pain management services to its patients.
The Care Quality Commission of the United Kingdom has also given the trust an Outstanding rating for Effectiveness and Caringness across the board, as well as a Good rating for Safeness, Responsiveness, and Well-Led.
On a national and international scale, the Walton Centre has world-class specialists and an exceptionally dedicated workforce that deliver outstanding clinical results, diagnosis, and treatment for injuries and illnesses affecting brain, spinal, and neurological health. It provides services to a population of 3.5 million people in Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, the Isle of Man, North Wales, and beyond through partnerships with 18 NHS hospitals, including Liverpool John Moores University Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Walton Clinics, located on 44 different sites across the country, provide outpatient consultations and many different tests, allowing more people to access care closer to home.

Port: The Port of Liverpool is one of the largest ports in Britain. It provides passenger ferry services across the Irish Sea to Belfast, Dublin, and the Isle of Man.
Air: Liverpool John Lennon Airport, located in the south of the city, provides Liverpool with direct air connections across the United Kingdom and Europe.
